Even prior to COVID, there was enough evidence to validate that CPR compressions performed without breaths (called compression-only CPR) was very effective to yield similar outcomes as CPR with breaths. Although there are some exceptions, CPR can continue to be performed without breaths until EMS arrives on the scene. This relieves some bystanders who are concerned with remembering ratios or getting too close to a stranger. Just press the chest – “hard and fast”!
